Softball Austria

The Austrian champion in fastpitch softball is determined in the Softall Bundesliga. After the regular season, the champion is played out in a playoff format over two weekends of the top four teams. Austria's second highest softball league, the 2nd Softball Bundesliga, is also held throughout Austria. At the European level, Austria was able to establish itself among the top nations.

Since 2018, the Youth Softball League has also been played. In this program of the ABF, the best junior players are grouped together to improve their athletic skills in addition to receiving additional playing time. At the 2009 European Cup in Haarlem, the Dornbirn Sharx were the first team not from the Netherlands or Italy to win the European Cup of Champions. At the European Championships in 2013 and 2015, the 6th place could be achieved in each case. Thus, Austria is one of the top nations in Europe in Fastpitch and has been represented in the top 10 since 2009.

In 2022, the European Championship will take place in Barcelona. After 1992, Austria's women made their second appearance on the international stage in 2016. Softball Austria was even allowed to compete with the USA in the group stage of the Fastpitch World Cup 2016 in Canada and finished the tournament in an excellent 18th place. In the second half of the tournament could be beaten except Czech Republic any nation of the Bottom-16!
